New Patterns
In the Traditional Design Collection by Lynn Gray Ross, the Arran Knitting Company offers you patterns which keep Scottish knitting traditions alive in a contemporary context.
We have a great new pattern for an Arran cardigan based on our waistcoat with shawl collar and traditional buttons, which will be on offer on the website soon.
Blue Bunnits come into the 21st century knitted in handspun yarn from Manos del Uruguay, a fairtrade project supporting local women.
Knitting as Art
Knitting is for beauty as well as warmth, for decoration as well as clothing.
Lynn Gray Ross writes about where she thinks knitting and art come together in Knitting as Art
She has designed a pattern for a knitted flower brooch in gorgeous GREAT BIG SEA yarn from Handmaiden which you can purchase to get yourself thinking three dimensional… .
Knitting in the School Curriculum
We have produced a curriculum guide for the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence to help teachers introduce knitting into the classroom curriculum.
Based on our award winning pilot work in Arran schools, the guide supports teachers in other countries, providing a valuable link between skills and resources and the structure of the curriculum.
You can Contact Us by email and we’ll send a free copy of the guide to download for use in your classroom planning.
