The barbecue summer we were promised by the weather forecasters has not materialised, more like wet, wet, wet..with intermittent glorious sunshine.

The garden has suffered, but the irises have been inspirational including this bronze specimen which appeared among the variegated purple and white.

We’ve largely ignored the rain and been kept busy developing content for the website, especially our new venture

Knitting in the School Curriculum

We have two new patterns available with notes for using them in classroom work.

Which is number one granddaughter’s birthday present by request.

The response we’ve had from teachers to the original offer of our curriculum guide KNITTING IN THE SCOTTISH CURRICULUM FOR EXCELLENCE has been fantastic, with teachers from all over the world adapting the guide to meet their own particular needs.

Red

Simon Ross-Gill is travelling in Latin America at the moment and has sent an article Textiles of the Andes about his time in Cusco with knitters, weavers and a dyer. He managed to purchase some cochineal so there will be red yarn in production again around here in the near future.
